DIY Kitchen Cabinets in 4 Simple Steps:

Kitchen Cabinet Layout

The Layout - A computer aided layout or a hand drawn floor plan will work equally well in deciding what cabinets you need to best complete your space. A pencil, a sheet of paper, a tape measure, and carefully taken measurements are all that you need. For some guidelines on how and what to measure please visit our Cabinet Measuring Guidelines page. Once you have your measurements the process is as simple as filling the space you have available with the specific cabinets that will function best for you. Please keep in mind that we will gladly review your DIY kitchen cabinets floor plan for you and point out any potential problems. We also recommend this page for a few quick tips and how-to's in regards to the layout and workflow of your kitchen.

Wall Cabinet Ordering Page

Ordering Kitchen Cabinets - Our online cabinet ordering pages are grouped into cabinet type (wall, base, tall, accessories) to allow you to easily find the size that you need. Use the direction tabs on each page to select the category you wish to view.

For many DIY kitchen cabinet projects you’ll want to consider your options: selecting the standard build or purchasing upgrades such as full plywood construction, a solid wood drawer, or full-extension drawer with the soft-close feature. These options can be selected from the drop-down box located next to the item description.

There are a few points that you should keep in mind regarding options;

If you are selecting the standard construction option (which is the default) both cabinet sides will be automatically finished. For the plywood construction upgrade the sides are not automatically finished; you will need to select None, Left, Right, or Both based on whether or not that particular cabinet will have an exposed end. Any cabinets that are placed between two other cabinets, or between a cabinet and a wall will not require a finished end.

You may also upgrade from standard construction drawers to full wood maple drawers with dovetail joints. With your choice of full wood drawers you can also select the full extension drawer rails which feature the silent close mechanism.

If you have selected plywood cabinets please note that they come standard with a full plywood drawer that is dovetail joined using standard rails. Plywood cabinet drawers can be upgraded to solid maple drawers that can also include the full extension rails.

If you have a long list of cabinets, would like someone to review your selections, or are just uncomfortable with online ordering in general please give us a call at 1-800-237-7470; we'll gladly review your order, make any necessary recommendation, and enter the order for you.
