Maple Cabinets

Maple cabinets are characterized by a tight, smooth grain that is faint in appearance. It's pattern can vary from a tight vertical lines to a wide arch-shape. The color range runs from white to yellow and brown. Inherently, you will find that there are fine honey-colored mineral streaks. Maple will react to both natural and artificial light sources, taking on a somewhat subdued patina. Light finishes will show a subtle hint of grain, while darker finishes offer an even smoother appearance.

White Cabinets

Birch Cabinets

Birch is also considered a hardwood. With it's straight grain and fine, even texture it is very close to maple in appearence. However, because it grows at a much more rapid pace then maple it is more economically priced. This factor has led to it's growing popularity over the last decade. In it's natural state, colors will range from a creamy white to a light yellow to a reddish brown. When a light finish is applied these variations are visible and should not be considered a defect.
